Westridge Primary School will host the sixth edition of their annual Westridge Super 6 cricket competition in Harare today which will feature six schools from in and around the city.
This is special for the young future cricketers as it coincides with the schools celebrating its 21st anniversary.
“This competition is called the Super 6 competition because we have six schools taking part in a very short but exciting game which has six overs being played by each batting side,” said the head coach of Westridge primary school Cliff Kaseke.

This tournament is rare feat for primary schools in Zimbabwe as the common thing is to have high schools hosting Twenty20 competitions.
It is also a good tournament for young cricketers as it follows the same format as that of the Hong Kong Sixers which attracts millions of viewers worldwide.

“We have got Chamu Chibhabha as our special guest this year because we want our kids to have exposure to national team players on an easy afternoon where they get to interact with him and get to learn a few things from him.

“The kids get excited when they have national team players and Chamu [Chibhabha] has done well in ODIs and T20s,” said Kaseke.

Schools: Westridge Primary school, Twin rivers Primary School, Hartman House School, Rydings primary School, Alex park Primary School and Eiffel Flats Primary school (from Midlands).
