Since it was the first time that the gala was held in Glendale, some fans got star-struck and could not believe their eyes when they met Suluman Chimbetu, Nicholas “Madzibaba Zakaria”, Jah Prayzah, Freeman and Tanga WekwaSando on one stage.
“Ah! ndamuona ndiSulu”, one fan said.

Sulu was not the only one who caught the eye of zealous fans, there were many including Tanga WekwaSando, Peter Moyo, Mathias Mhere and Sandra Ndebele, who were mobbed after their performances.
There was action on and off the stage as people danced and sang along to the music in celebration of President Mugabe’s 89th birthday.
With a can of beer or soft drink selling for just US$1 there was no holding back for those who love their wise waters.
But the beer binge took its toll on most imbibers who could not last the course, as these pictures show.
The imbibers could be seen taking a nap, despite the chilly weather and clouds of dust. Oddly enough, some only woke up long after the gala had ended. However, those who were into catering enjoyed brisk business as revellers thronged several food stalls and bars dotted around the venue.
