Gallery hosts art expo, auction

a weeklong art exhibition and auction starting this Saturday.
The event running under the theme, “Continental Dialogues” is aimed at honouring and strengthening relations between Zimbabwe and the European Union as well as raise funds for the gallery.
The show will see various artists from across the country showcasing their skills
in a competition whose aim is to highlight the
role and contribution that EU has played in Zimbabwe.
The artists will use their choice of media in the competition that will see the three top winners walk away with prize money of US$500, US$350 and US$150 respectively, courtesy of the sponsors, EU.
Some of the artifacts to look forward to at the exhibition include Calvin Chimutuwa’s “Stary Circle” in which he uses silver strokes and a touch of blue to reflect on the EU golden stars and the Zimbabwean bird.
Lin Barrie’s painting titled “Zimbabwe/EU Food Security – Wildlife animal conflict”
depicts how people and wildlife should live in harmony.
It shows an elephant towering over a woman sitting on the ground next to some traditional refreshments and vegetables.
Tickets for the auction can be bought at Alliance Francaise, The Book Café, Doon Estate, European Union, National Gallery of Zimbabwe, Picture Frame Newlands and Zimbabwe German Society.
