Gamecocks eye Mahachi signature

CHICKEN Inn are the first to confirm their interest in roping in SuperSport United outcast, Kudakwashe Mahachi.

The club’s boss, Joey Antipas, told H-Metro he is keen to re-sign the diminutive midfielder, regardless of his off-the-pitch issues.

Mahachi was released by SuperSport United recently following allegations that he scalded his four-year-old son with boiling water.

He, however, labelled the allegations as false and investigations are underway, with the story taking new twists and turns after each passing day.

“Mahachi will forever be welcomed at Chicken Inn, he is one of our own and we need to show him a bit of love considering what he’s going through.

“On the pitch, he is an amazing player and he can give us something which we are looking for with his unique style of play.

“We are not there to judge him, because he hasn’t been proven guilty, I’m not taking any sides because I don’t really know what happened.

“But, everyone deserves a second chance in the event that he is found guilty,” said Antipas

He added:

“We haven’t made any signing yet, but we are planning to strengthen our squad, with what we can afford.

“We are looking forward to bringing in a striker and a defender, that’s our area of concern, our midfield department has been solid enough.”

Mahachi played a significant role in the 2015 season where the Gamecocks won their first Premiership title.

He then left for Mamelodi Sundowns in the same year, before he went on to join Golden Arrows, Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United.

Mahachi will join Clive Augusto, who is also set to make a sensational return in the second round of the Castle Lager Premiership for the Gamecocks, should the club reach an agreement with him.

Antipas’s men are enjoying a fine run, which has seen them taking charge of the front row seat, in the first round of the season. The domestic Premiership will return next week after serving its two-week mid-season break.
