IT was a memorable afternoon for Maboozer Akarongeka Social League when its 18 affiliated clubs received kits, equipment and soccer balls from a gaming company in the capital on Saturday.
The donation was made by Bolabet Zimbabwe and was handed over to the 18 representatives of the clubs.
The donation was initially scheduled for two weeks ago but was delayed after the consignment was held up in South Africa because of the recent elections in that country.
MASL, which was formed in 2013, is a league whose clubs are drawn from Harare, Chitungwiza, Marondera, Chinhoyi and Mazowe.
Bolabet Zimbabwe representative, Thelma Rukete, said the donation was in line with the government’s agenda to combat drug and substance abuse, as well as promoting healthy, active lifestyles through sport.
“The kit unveiling ceremony will be preceded with a four-team tournament that will feature some of the teams showcasing their new soccer kits and equipment.
“Through this partnership with Maboozer Akarongeka Social League we will show our commitment to support local sports development and community engagement initiatives,” said Rukete.
MASL chairman, Leon Chasura, said they were happy with the sponsorship as it will go a long way in supporting football development.
“We are very grateful to Bolabet Zimbabwe for the support of soccer jerseys, corner flags, cones and soccer balls we received.
“As a league, we are happy that we have managed to bring together several people from different backgrounds with the idea of promoting friendship and offering platforms for business.
“The kit donations will go a long way in making sure that the league goes on well,” said Chasura.
