THE magical beauty and haunting tranquility of nature reminds every true Christian of God’s divine mystery. The Garden of Eden, in which the first seeds of mankind, Adam and Eve, were planted, was sacredly serene and scenic. It offered freshly pristine environment conducive in every sense for perfect human habitation; a garden in which to savour intoxicating natural wonder and space to pray peacefully and privately to one Maker who is God, away from the madding crowds. That is what NORSELAND is like to the Adventist Multi-cultural Church in Mutare: a campsite of divine mystery and magic in the Vumba.
Announcing the official takeover of the pristine woodlot to Adventist saints from Kingsway, Florida, Hilbright and Sanctuary churches, the Adventist Mutare District shepherd Pastor Tatenda Machamire said the piece of land freely handed over and received without exchange of money was God-sent.
“We did not pay anything for this land. It was handed over to us courtesy of the East Conference Zimbabwe-Adventist Church which is the title-deed owner. We want to thank them officially and publicly as we also acknowledge the love, mercy and kindness of our Father who art thou above. This is now our land.
Let us rejoice in it. And this is the day that the Lord has given us. What a wonderful Sabbath day in Heaven and at NORSELAND today!” said Pastor Machamire.
“We are here today to accept the gift of this our own Canaan with no fear from anything or anybody. We will have our service here this Sabbath to mark or celebrate what will be our campsite for the Adventist church beginning August 2016 and for Adventist generations to come.”
Complementing each other Pastors Irvine Gwatiringa of Mutare North district and Tatenda Machamire, Overseer Mutare Multi-Cultural Adventist church, appealed for every Adventist member, child and adult, to contribute anything they have from cash to equipment, ideas and labour to make sure the campsite is ready for first camping by August 2016.
The NORSELAND development committee members gave each other turns to appeal for cheerful givers to give generously whatever they have to meet the required budget of $20 000 (twenty thousand US Dollars) needed to refurbish and facelift the campsite. Prominent businessman Gumisai Mawadzi of the Tisuanhuacho fame, also treasurer of the NORSELAND Development Committee (NDC) spoke at length after prayer and appeal, to a cheerful giver to give cheerfully. “God likes a cheerful giver. Let us give cheerfully and please our God,” was the businessman’s petition through and through.
Elders John Musimwa(NDC member responsible for Accommodation), Shepherd Mvundura (NDC member responsible for building), Ms Pamela Khan (Housekeeping), R.D.Manhuwa (Transport) and Wilfred Marekwa (NDC coordinating chairperson) all spoke of the need to work together as one Adventist family united by love and a spirit of giving to develop ‘OUR’ Norseland.
The Adventist ‘Garden of Eden’, elder Marekwa said, “will be developed into a sporting venue for Adventist youths and adults who have sporting inclinations and be a campsite for hire for other church assemblies and various conferences or meetings. A sanatorium is also on the NDC plan The Manica Post is reliably informed.
“We want to see couples joined in holy matrimony here once the site is complete and have Adventist saints enjoy the facility in all sorts of style and manner that pleases God,” Marekwa said.
