Garden of House enters new era

BULAWAYO’s premier house music and lifestyle movement, Garden of House (GOH), is preparing to open a new chapter in its journey when it hosts The Secret Garden edition on August 9, bringing together local and international talent in a celebration of music and culture.

The upcoming event marks a significant milestone for the brand as it introduces a new venue while continuing its evolution from a niche gathering of house music enthusiasts into one of Zimbabwe’s most recognisable Afro-house and lifestyle platforms.

Since its launch in 2022, Garden of House has steadily expanded beyond its Bulawayo roots, cultivating a loyal following and positioning itself as one of the country’s fastest-growing house music experiences. What began as an intimate event for lovers of electronic music has transformed into a cultural movement where music, fashion, art, and lifestyle converge.

The Secret Garden edition reflects that growth through a carefully selected line-up featuring international acts Funky Q La, Robotic DFC and Kitchen Mess, alongside a strong local contingent that includes Ash T, Kotwane Hikwa, TJ Sol, Mqast Khalfala, Toxic Chemical, Young DLC and DJ Nashe.

For organisers and patrons alike, however, Garden of House has always represented more than a music event. Over the years, the platform has built a reputation for creating immersive experiences that move beyond the traditional nightclub setting. Attendees are encouraged to embrace creativity and self-expression in spaces designed to foster connection among house music lovers.

This unique identity has played a key role in the brand’s success. Beyond entertainment, GOH has become a platform for emerging DJs, producers, photographers, fashion creatives and vendors, helping nurture talent while contributing to the growth of Zimbabwe’s electronic music scene.

The introduction of a new venue for The Secret Garden adds an element of anticipation for regular patrons. While venue changes often present logistical challenges, Garden of House has previously demonstrated its ability to adapt.

During its expansion into Harare, organisers successfully navigated a last-minute venue change and still delivered a well-attended event, highlighting both the resilience of the brand and the loyalty of its audience.

Away from the dance floor, Garden of House has cultivated a strong digital presence. Its social media platforms have become hubs for community engagement, where followers interact with lineup announcements, event photography and lifestyle content. The online community has also helped popularise the now-famous “Garden Boys and House Girls” culture that has become synonymous with the brand.

The event arrives at a time when house music continues to thrive across Southern Africa, with Afro-house, Afro-tech and deep house sounds dominating festivals and dance floors throughout the region.
