GONE are the days when a doek was perceived as a conservative piece of clothing.
Musician Garry Mapanzure will be headlining the “Doek and Slay” event on Saturday.
This one-of-a-kind event will be held at Palm Estate Borrowdale 16A Stonechat Lane, starting from midday till late.
Doek and Slay is an event for women only.
Its purpose is to bring women together to inspire, motivate and love each other.
Event coordinator and organiser, Anesu Rwanda, said the reason for them to use the doek as a symbol for this movement was because it is the one thing that is common among women.
“This event is mobilising women to come together and wear their crown with pride.
“At one stage in life, as a woman you will wear a Doek. A Doek has no colour, age, social status or level of education.
“At Doek and Slay you get to support other women exhibiting their products, selling their wares, motivate each other and above all love one another.
“Come join us for a unique and unforgettable experience. Get your tickets now and be part of the experience,” he said.
The tickets are going for US$10.
