SUNGURA musician, Romeo Gasa, is back in the United Kingdom for a series of shows and festivals.
Gasa, who returned home in July after a seven-month stint overseas with his wife, came back to record and launch his eighth album titled ‘Pressure Zero’ last month.
It appears the Extra Valembe boss is now penetrating the international market, judging by the interest he is attracting overseas.
In an interview, Gasa who was reunited with his wife in Exeter, southwest of England, said he was weighing returning home after three weeks.
“I flew back last week since we are planning to hold shows here. We are holding something on November 9 in London and I will only consider coming home in the next three weeks.
“I am planning for my band members to come here for shows because there are many opportunities here,” he said.
He ruled out any plans of settling in the UK for good.
“We only come here for shows and festivals because there is a market for us,” he said.
“Home is always best for us and we can’t deny that fact. During my first stint here, I was working and you know how it is here in the UK.”
Initially, the 2007 Chibuku Road to Fame winner, left Harare in December last year to be with his wife who found a job abroad.
His move to the UK left members of his Extra Valembe stuck back home without Gasa.
He only came back to record his eighth album, which has been endorsed as a success in sungura circles.
Gasa boasts of successful albums that include ‘Sungura Compressor’, ‘Bho Zvekuti’, ‘Simbi Hombe’, ‘Pin Code’, and ‘Phone Yababa Imhiripiri’ among others.
Gasa has been recording albums constantly and he has done a lot to reinvent sungura.
Gasa, who is famed for his bass guitar playing skills and vocal ability, tackles social ills, love matters and Ubuntu in most of his songs.
He is also a mentor who has been grooming youngsters.
