MASHAVA-based, Zifa Central Soccer League outfit Gaths Mine have written to the league management and the region’s disciplinary committee arguing that the decision taken by the regional board after they failed to fulfil their rescheduled match against Tongogara at Ascot Stadium was not procedural.
A letter dated June 16 signed by Gaths Mine secretary Collins Munemo states that the club’s case should have been heard by the region’s disciplinary committee and not the league management.
He wrote that the decision taken by the Zifa Central Region board was therefore null and void.
Part of the letter reads: “As Zifa Central Region management committee you had no right to pass a decision on behalf of a regional disciplinary hearing committee you appointed as per clause 51 of the Zifa Central Region constitution. Your duty as a board is to appoint the disciplinary committee as per clause 36.1.4 of the Zifa Central Region constitution who shall preside over disciplinary matters. The duty of every board member is outlined in the Zifa Central Region constitution.”
Meanwhile, second placed Wha Wha turned on the power and clobbered Chrome Stars 3-0 in a top of the table clash at the weekend.
Chrome Stars had gone for seven unbeaten matches and were at the top of the log.
Goals by Albert “Dracula” Matewo, Donald Madzinga and Nicholas Chuma ensured that the correctional services side retained second position while Chrome Stars relinquished top spot to Tongagara.
Tongogara beat Silo United 1-0.
