THERE have been a lot of negative comments on football nowadays. It had to come because teams were scoring a lot of goals a few years ago. I have seen lots and lots of games and goals on television and there has been some lovely football players I have seen in action. For example seeing Thabani Kamusoko of FC Platinum displaying some one-touch, two-touch passes in midfield reminded me of the days of Willard Khumalo and the late David Phiri of Highlanders and Caps United’s Joel Shambo.
In a game where moves have been set off by the goalkeeper throwing a ball out to his fullback and its been passed to his teammates right up the field and its been perfectly executed with a goal at the finish and no opponent getting a foot to the ball, there is nothing finer in football.
Lloyd Mutasa keep up the good work, its refreshing football.
Mutasa has to work on dead ball situations as they can spoil his game.
As for Kelvin Kaindu and technical team, if God wanted football to be played in the clouds, He would have put grass over there. Secondly the reason you were outplayed in midfield when not in possession, Kudakwashe Mahachi and Knox Mutizwa should be close to Erick Mudzingwa and Charles Sibanda in defence. Tell them not to run with the ball but to restrict themselves to two touch passes.
Magic play
I know some professionals in the game who get just as much joy out of seeing a tackle well executed seeing, say Peter Ndlovu go past six players and score. It all depends on what people are after, they want to see the little magic last about five seconds, they would not care as long as that can end with them up on their feet celebrating.
“The magic is beyond words.’’
You can go to watch the greatest show in the world, it could be the greatest movie with top stars, once you have watched it you know what it is about. A repeat watch leaves you knowing what to expect come tomorrow and see Highlanders play Dynamos, you can watch the same teams play on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday for two weeks running, you will never know what the outcome of the games will be.
I think this is a great quality about football. In a great player, great singer, great comedian, you can’t sort out one thing from the other character. Other players have talent but no ability.
I want to watch skillful players doing skillful things, that is what football is about for me. I don’t really care who wins, I just like to see good football.
Feedback: Thank you sir, I strongly believe teams should employ psychologists so that players are prepared mentally. Another issue is the lack of scientific approach to the game, how many teams in Bulawayo have video cameras to record games. These could see coaches easily analyse games and players. Although Bosso have done well in the last few games, I am worried about the Dynamos game which is fast approaching. Having watched Bosso several times I believe coaches need a master plan for this game, treatment of this game as any other will be disastrous, surely something is wrong we cannot fail to beat the same team for seven years.
Beating your main rival is a measure of one’s pedigree. Everytime we beat DeMbare we win the league championship. No win, no championship. – Saneso Nkomo.
Until next week
