GAZA High school from Chipinge got a surprise boost  ahead of their games today as they are set to take on  Zengeza One High School at 11am on Avenues Field at the Dairibord Schools Rugby Festival.

It was last night that Zimbabwe Rugby Union president John Falkenberg struck the boys team with a US$500 windfall at the end of Day Two games.

During a press conference, Prince Edward School headmaster Agrippa Sora mentioned and thanked the side for taking part at the festival as they are a rural school furthest from Harare amongst the teams at the week-long event.

“I would like to thank all the teams taking part in this year’s event. We have Gaza High School who are from the furthest corner of the country also taken part here.

“They were here last year and again this year they have seen it fit to take part in the festival and I am sure we should do something for this school,” said Sora.

This was when Falkenberg whispered into the ear of Sora and the announcement followed.

“Infact Mr Falkenberg here would like to thank you with a US$500 dollar token,” said Sora.

As expected today the games are set to kick-off at 8am and there are 11 girls games on the fixture – the highest ever at the festival – and the pick of the girls games will be the clash between Vainona High and Girls High schools.

Both sides dominated and then went on to steal the show on the opening day of the festival with Vainona beating George Stark 72-0 while Girls High were 22-0 victors over Roosevelt.

The game is scheduled to kick-off at 10am on Jubilee Field.
