Gcabayi win Filabusi tourney

GCABAYI FC thumped Terminal Victors 2-1 to win the Thembalethu Foundation-sponsored Filabusi Tournament held at Old Revolution Grounds on Sunday. For their efforts, the victors received gold medals while the losing finalists got silver medals. Amazon came third and received bronze medals.

To book the final berth Gcabayi beat Insiza 1-0 while Terminal Victors won 3-2 against Amazon.
Event organiser Stanley Dube said the tournament lived up to expectations.

“Everything went according to plan, it was a success and the teams played good football, it was excellent to watch.
“The attendance was high, thanks to the people of Filabusi and around, they were very supportive,” said Dube.

He said the youngsters showcased so much talent that even attracted the attention of Central Region Division One-bond Revolution FC.
Sheppard Ncube of Gcabayi was voted the Player of the Tournament while Joseph Ncube won the top goal scorer accolade after bagging three goals.

Sonke Dube of Insiza was the Goalkeeper of the Tournament, while Menelisi Dube was crowned the most disciplined player.
Community leader Bishop Moyo and village headman Godfrey Mathuthu were among the dignitaries who attended the event.

Thembalethu Foundation has donated soccer kits to two local primary schools – Gcabayi and Amazon.
