FORMER Warriors’ defensive midfielder Lionel Mtizwa is disappointed with his stay at South Africa’s Absa Premier League side Mamelodi Sundowns. Mtizwa believes his situation could easily have been avoided had Sundowns not recalled him from Pretoria University to honour his one year contract left.
Mtizwa, who had an enjoyable season with cross-town rivals AmaTuks last season, never thought he would be sitting on his balcony daily without a job.
He told Chronicle: “I’m experiencing some challenges right now as I’m not training with top flight teams. Even though I do train alone my fitness levels will count, but as a professional player I’m always ready. Hopefully this coming year things will work out.
He added: “I don’t hold a grudge with anyone, life must go on.
“ I respect Sundowns and their decision; it’s only that things never worked out between us.”
The former Caps United player said he would bounce back soon and would love to represent his country once again.
