ZIMBABWE’s William Geach has emerged as the country’s leading contender in the Race to Sunshine Tour Qualifying School series, sitting 44th on the standings and top among the Zimbabwean golfers following the close of the fourth event, the Hayes Family Trophy.

Zimbabwe has two players competing in the Race to Q‑School, with the other being amateur Michael Wallace. Both have endured a demanding stretch, lodged in the lower middle of the overall standings after four tournaments.
Geach holds 44th place with 45 points accumulated from four events, while Wallace is 47th with 33.60 points. The 67‑player standings are led by South Africa’s Daniel Cronje, who has surged clear with 502.50 points from three tournaments, including two victories.

At event number four, the Hayes Family Trophy held at Waterkloof Golf Club in Pretoria earlier this week, Geach finished tied for 30th on one‑over‑par 145 after 36 holes. The tournament was reduced from 54 holes to 36 after inclement weather disrupted play in the South African capital.

Geach picked up 20.70 Race to Q‑School points from the event, returning rounds of 74 and 71 to steady his campaign. Wallace, meanwhile, finished tied for 55th on five‑over‑par 149 after rounds of 76 and 73. He did not earn any points from the tournament.

Sanctioned by the Bushveld Tour, the Race to Sunshine Tour Q‑School is a 13‑tournament series that serves as the pathway to the 2026-2027 Sunshine Tour Qualifying School. The Bushveld Tour is South Africa’s leading development circuit and the official route to the Big Easy and Sunshine Tours.

The next event on the calendar is scheduled for Killarney Country Club from January 12 to 14.
Based mainly in Gauteng, the Bushveld Tour operates as a mini pro circuit for professional and competitive amateur golfers in South Africa. It acts as a feeder system for players preparing to step up to the Sunshine Tour and other major tours around the world. Running two to three competitive tournaments per month throughout the year, the circuit culminates in the Srixon Tour Championship at season’s end, offering professionally run events for emerging amateurs and seasoned professionals alike, with accessible entry fees and strong earning potential.
