THE Global Esports Federation continue to make huge strides across the world as they recently welcomed United Arab Emirates as their 100th Member Federation.
GEF announced the historic milestone at the Connected @Townhall session, held on July 27, as they welcomed their 100th Member Federation — Emirates Esports, representing United Arab Emirates.
The GEF have been making huge strides, confirming a series of landmark partnerships, and welcoming more member federations, from across the world, since their worldwide launch, in December 2019.
According to the GEF official website, Emirates Esports, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa al Nahyan, as president, actively promote esports in the UAE.
They are firmly committed to advancing GEF’s values of equality, fair play, diversity, inclusion and innovation.
GEF president, Chris Chan, said they have created a powerful platform that serves the world’s esports community.
“The Global Esports Federation has established a powerful convening platform, built to be of service, to the world’s esports community,’’ said Chan.
“The continued rise of esports, and inclusive engagement with youth, underpin our work in promoting the credibility, legitimacy and prestige of esports globally.’’
A number of the GEF members, from different parts of the world, took time to congratulate their mother body, for the milestone, in short videos posted on the website.
“Congratulations to everyone at the Global Esports Federation, for this incredible achievement, from all of us at the British Esports Association,” said British Esports Association chief executive, Chester King.
And, the Canadians, followed suit.
“Congratulations from Canada Esports, to the Global Esports Federation team, truly an incredible milestone and world connected, all the best and more to come,” said Olympian, and chair Canada Esports Association, Charmaine Crooks.
In his congratulatory message, Lagos Esports Forum chief executive, Sayo Owolabi, said it was good to see the impact GEF were making, in promoting the credibility, legitimacy and prestige of esports globally.
“Congratulations to the Global Esports Federation on reaching the 100 members milestone, it’s good to see that the mission to promote the credibility, legitimacy and prestige of esports the world over is catching up strong.
“Congratulations from all us at the Lagos Esports Forum.”
The GEF flagship Global Esports Games will be hosted in Singapore, this year, Istanbul 2022, and Riyadh 2023.
They have since called for Expressions of Interest, from Member Federations, to host future Global Esports Games.
Host cities for the Global Esports Games 2024 to 2027 will be announced during the Singapore 2021 Global Esports Games in December.
