MANICA Diamonds have roped in five new players, a club source confirmed to H-Metro.
Panashe Mutasa, Gerald Bero, Donald Ngoma, Geoffrey Chitsumba and goalkeeper Tadious Baye are the new Gem Boys.
More signings are believed to be in the pipeline.
The source also indicated that they had also stepped up their pursuit of Whawha’s Jayden Barake.
This means coach, Jairos Tapera, will be working with veteran forward Ngoma for the third time.
Their union started at FC Platinum.
Tapera also signed the giant forward early in the just-ended campaign at Triangle.
Ngoma repaid the trust by banging in nine goals for the Chiredzi side.
It appears Green Fuel failed to convince goalie, Baye, to renew his contract.
The 26-year-old is the reigning ZIFA Eastern Region Division One League Player of the Season.
He won the gong last month after helping the Chisumbanje side secure Premiership status by keeping 22 clean sheets, the highest in Zimbabwe’s top five leagues.
The top five leagues comprise the top-flight PSL, the Northern Region, Southern Region, Eastern Region and Central Region leagues.
He conceded just five goals all season.
Chitsumba was also a mainstay in Triangles’ fine season.
The ‘keeper has earned himself a move which will see him reuniting with goalkeepers coach, Themba Sibanda, who also left Triangle together with Tapera towards the end of the campaign.
Baye is also reuniting with Sibanda who he worked with at Green Fuel at the start of the campaign.
Bero is also another player from Triangle who has also reconnected with Tapera at Manica Diamonds.
The pace striker scored six goals for the Sugar Sugar Boys.
