THE Zimbabwe senior women’s netball team left the country yesterday to take part in the inaugural Celtic Cup in Glasgow, Scotland, next week.
The Gems, led by captain Felistus Kwanga, will compete against Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland in the tournament.
It will run from November 7 to 10.
The tournament will be held in a round-robin format with the final being held on November 10.
Gems manager Agnes Chiroodza said the team, which has been in camp preparing for the tournament, is in good shape.
“The Gems are ready to compete, this tournament comprises ranking games except one and this is done to prepare for the World Cup in 2027,” said Chiroodza.
The tournament was created by the three European countries to provide the best competitive environment for athletes and spectators outside the World Cup and the Commonwealth Games.
Blessing Kahari, Luya Anifa, Thandiwe Daisy Mashore and Faith Mutero will be making their debut in the second national team.
