LESLEY Masuku, popularly known as General Lesley will host a one-man comedy show at the Bulawayo Theatre next month.
The one-man show is themed ‘Afterlife’ and will be Masuku’s first production under the Young Artists’ Development School. Masuku said he was excited about the opportunity and hopes to spread love and unity through comedy.
“I am pleased to be performing at the one-man show and the key message at the event will be about the different theories regarding our religious beliefs, races and ethnic groups. In these different concepts, my goal is to spread the gospel of love and unity and teach people on the importance of living together peacefully,” he said.
He highlighted that there were a number of activities lined up for the event that entailed live music and comedy.
“There are a number of activities lined up for the show that entail comedy and live music. The event is more of a family show and every age group is accommodated,” he said.
Masuku stated that he started comedy in July and has performed at about seven shows. “I started comedy on 6 July 2024 at the Bulawayo Theatre and at this show, l was not part of the performers, l just asked the organisers to slot me in for a few minutes.
I was given 11 minutes and the response from the audience was overwhelming, this boosted my confidence.
“I have performed seven times on five different platforms and these include the Comedy Night at the Bulawayo Theatre, The Really Live Show, Funny Stories That Heal, the Comedy Night at Cotton Club and the Power Sessions,” he said.
