The fifth edition of the Generation Next Leadership Conference ended on a high note after bringing together church leaders from different denominations for three days of leadership training, mentorship and spiritual growth at Celebration Centre in Borrowdale, Harare.
Hosted by Harvest House International founders Bishop Dr Colin Nyathi and Bishop Dr Sarah Nyathi from July 16 to 18, the conference attracted ministry founders, pastors and emerging church leaders from across Zimbabwe and beyond.
The event focused on preparing the next generation of church leaders through mentorship, sound biblical teaching and servant leadership. It featured guest speakers including Pastor Tom Deuschle, Apostle Tavonga Vutabwashe, Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa, Bishop Chemani Tuturu and Prophetess Memory Matimbire. They shared teachings and personal experiences on leadership, ministry and the challenges of serving in the church.
The event also featured praise and worship performances by the Harvest Music Choir, Joyful Praise Choir, Nkosi Herman Nyoni, Sipho Snowy Ncube and Minister Michael Mahendere.
Topics discussed included building generational churches, biblical teaching, prayer, mental health in ministry, leadership and the responsible management of church resources. Speakers encouraged delegates to lead with integrity, accountability and humility.
Speaking during the conference, Bishop Colin Nyathi said the movement was created to intentionally mentor young church leaders.
“The aim is to close the gap in the next generation by providing intentional mentorship to upcoming leaders,” he said.
Young pastors and ministry founders were also given an opportunity to minister alongside established church leaders as part of the conference’s commitment to developing future leaders.
One of the highlights of the conference was the participation of Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa, whose appearance on the interdenominational platform drew attention from delegates. It followed his appearance at Apostle Tavonga Vutabwashe’s Interdenominational Pastors and Church Leaders Conference in May.
Organisers said the conference aims to continue raising leaders who will serve the church with integrity, wisdom and a heart for God’s people.
