‘Generations’ breaks its own record: 10 million viewers

Over 10 million people watched the first episode of the revamped “Generations”, the SABC told Sowetan LIVE this afternoon. The broadcaster’s spokesperson, Kaizer Kganyago, said that they do not have the exact number but were informed that over 10 million people tuned to SABC 1 for “Generations” on Monday.

“The premiere of ‘Generations: The Legacy’ went well and it received plenty of viewers as we were told that over10 million people were watching. This has never happened before. The highest it averaged before this was 8,6 million,” said Kganyago.

He said the SABC is happy that “Generations” lived up to its promise of returning to the people’s screens on the first day of December.

Kganyago said that they received mixed feelings from the viewers after the first episode but has urged people to give “Generations: The Legacy” a chance and some time to get used to.

“People cannot comment now as this was just an introduction. They must watch this space.

“Commenting now will be like reading the first page of a book and then trying to tell people about the storyline,” said Kganyago.

He said that they are happy that everything is on track.

“Skeem Saam” was moved to its original 6:30pm slot. — Sowetan.
