Following the resounding success of the Imbokodo Concert, a powerful, all-female showcase that lit up Bulawayo’s Large City Hall on Thursday evening, it is now time for the gentlemen to shine.

Tonight, the same venue will host the eagerly awaited “Amakhosi Night”, an all-male music extravaganza featuring some of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated male artistes.

Starting at 6pm, Amakhosi Night promises to be a showstopper, with a line-up boasting award-winning talent from across the music spectrum. Headlining the evening are heavy-hitters Msiz’kay, known for his genre-blending versatility and soulful storytelling; Asaph Afrika, a lyrical force in hip-hop; and Luminous, whose poignant bars continue to shape Bulawayo’s sound. Also set to electrify the stage are gospel sensation Gog’Bekezela, Afro-fusion maestro Guluva 7, Afro-pop crooner Lamas Ellz, and seasoned jazz bassist Charles Mahlaba. Together, these artistes represent the dynamic spirit and creative depth that Bulawayo, and indeed Zimbabwe, has to offer.

The concert, which will be livestreamed on the Baf Facebook page, is more than just a musical performance. It is a celebration of brotherhood, creativity, and the enduring power of the arts to unite and inspire. Like its sister concert, Imbokodo, Amakhosi Night is part of a broader festival theme celebrating balance, diversity, and cultural excellence.

It has been a packed week for the Bulawayo Arts Festival, with every day offering fresh artistic expression, from stirring Imbube choirs, riveting spoken word and poetry slams, to theatre pieces and comedy nights that had audiences in stitches.

As the festival winds down, Saturday’s line-up will culminate with a Youth Concert, amplifying the voices of emerging talent, followed by a Rhumba/Tshibilika finale, a feel-good celebration set to bring the community together for one final night of joy, rhythm, and reflection.
