GERMANY-BASED Afro-Pop and African Reggae artiste, I-Finton, is turning up the heat on the European music scene by assembling a star-studied band — four of them — Zimbabweans, ahead of a series of concerts in three European countries which are already in motion.

Born Finton Mumbure in the sprawling suburb of Dangamvura in Mutare, the dreadlocked crooner is making waves once again, not only for his rhythm-rich sound, but also for being selected to perform at the prestigious German Triathlon event, set for September 7 and 14 for the third consecutive time.

He now heads a multi-cultural band called Platform 263 which comprises four Zimbabweans, Allan Jonas (Kayzz Grande), Simbarashe Ritala (Simritz), Ali Banda (Abanda) and Vee Rusike as well as Colombians and Germans.

Mumbure, told Weekender Entertainment this week that he is currently undertaking a tour of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and is fully booked until November.

It seems his reggae sound with strong African roots is charming the German and Swiss nationals, judging from the huge number of audiences that are attending his shows and engaging him on his social media handles.

His African reggae sound is paired and mixed with soul, dancehall, folk, and rap.

“It has been a fine, yet busy ride as we have stepped a gear up by assembling a full band which comprises permanent band members with the majority of them being Zimbabweans. It is an honour working with the Mystical Force Sound where I, together with various Jamaican artistes, featured on the recently released song called “Love” recorded at Kings Corner.

“It is an honour being part of the project because the Mystical Force Sound System and Label, which is a German Sound System and Label has worked with renowned artistes such as Luciano, Mitch di Singa and Chezidek, just to mention a few.

“The support that I have been receiving is an honour, and we are humbled to the experience we are getting through performing in countries such as Austria and Switzerland. This is a milestone indeed,” said Mumbure.
The development is one of a refreshing one for a young lad who started doing music at a tender age in Dangamvura.

Mumbure has released tracks such as “Musoro Wakatsvuka,” which is a gospel gem where he praises the Lord for his unwavering and undying love. He has also done a song titled “Hold It Tight,” in collaboration with Jonnas Brannath.

“In one of my first moments this year, I also did a project with Wolfgang Abendschon and my fellow Zimbabwean, Metaphysics, on the song, ‘Trust Your Love’

“We are currently on a tour of Germany, Austria and Switzerland till November. Something new is also cooking as we finished recording this potential chartbuster titled ‘Don’t Give Up’ which I did with Feli Nandi. Being chosen to perform at the German Triathlon for the third time in a roll which will run on two weekends, September 7 and September 14 is also an honour,” added Mumbure.

A true son of Dangamvura, Mumbure began making music at a young age. Encouraged by teachers and classmates who admired his voice, he taught himself to play the guitar by watching local musicians.

By 18, he was performing in local bands, and by 24, he joined Rina Mushonga and The Zimfellas, touring across Zimbabwe.

Through his music, the talented guitarist has remained a proud cultural ambassador, consistently flying the Zimbabwean flag high on global stages.

His uplifting lyrics, conscious messaging, and commitment to authentic African sounds have made him a beacon of inspiration to fans across Europe, and a role model for aspiring musicians back home.

From the dusty streets of Dangamvura to international festival stages, his journey is a powerful testament to talent, perseverance, and purpose.

Since moving to Europe, Mumbure has embraced a solo career, writing and performing songs in English, Shona, and German.

In 2015, he released his debut EP, Get Ready, produced in Germany.

Since then, he has shared stages with Jamaram at the Aachen September Special, opened for Sebastian Sturm, and wowed audiences at festivals like Fest der Weltkirche.

Now, as the band is on the verge of releasing a new single titled “Don’t Give Up” featuring Zimbabwean star, Feli Nandi, all signs point to another potential chart-topper.
