ZANU PF Mashonaland West Province has officially replaced two former Central Committee members, Mr Blessed Geza, a war veteran recently expelled from the party, and Terrence Mukupe, the former Deputy Minister of Finance currently serving a prison sentence.

Cde Polite Kambamura, who is the Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Development, has been elected uncontested to replace Mr Geza.

In Hurungwe, Cde Joseph Serima, a war veteran, was also elected uncontested to succeed Cde Mukupe.

Provincial chairperson Cde Mary Mliswa announced the replacements, stating that the provincial leadership had conducted the requisite processes to fill the vacancies over the weekend in line with party procedures.

“As the ZANU PF Mashonaland West provincial leadership, we wish to inform the public and party members that we are currently in the process of filling vacancies within the Central Committee following recent developments affecting some of our representatives.

“We fully understand the importance of strong leadership and representation for our constituents.”

Mr Geza was expelled for undermining the authority of the party’s First Secretary, President Mnangagwa, creating a vacancy in Kadoma district, where he had served as a Central Committee representative.

Cde Mukupe, who represented Hurungwe District, was removed following his conviction and sentencing to three years in prison for his role in a fuel smuggling scandal.

The provincial leadership has also begun preparations to fill a third Central Committee vacancy following the departure of Cde Kindness Paradza from active politics after joining the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), where he now serves as a Commissioner.

Cde Mliswa said the filling of all the vacancies was being conducted in full compliance with the party constitution and guided by the principles of transparency.

“We are committed to ensuring stability, continuity and strong representation at the highest levels of the party,” she added.

“Our goal is to foster a united front as we navigate the challenges ahead.”
