adminGHANA and Cote d’Ivoire are to establish a viable and sustainable trans-frontier conservation area that links forest reserves and protected areas in and around Bia in the Western Region and Diambarakro in Cote d’Ivoire.
The three year programme estimated at more than $ 2 million is being executed by Ghana’s Forestry Commission, Conservation Alliance an NGO and Sodefor of Cote d’ Ivoire.
Launching the project at a workshop in Accra, Deputy Minister of Land and Natural Resources, Barbara Serwaa Asamoah reiterated Ghana’s commitment to preserving its wildlife resources.
The Executive Director of the Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission, Nana Kofi Adu Nsiah said the project will help improve capacity of staff of the forestry commission and local communities in both countries for planning, monitoring and implementation of activities for bio-diversity conservation, enhance ecological processes and ecosystem services. — GBC.
