A 17-YEAR-OLD Mabvuku girl was raped by two armed men in a pirate taxi in Marlborough on Boxing Day.
The girl boarded a private vehicle which had three other passengers at Joina City going to Marlborough.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, said the girl was referred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for medical examination.
“Police are investigating a case involving a girl raped by two men after boarding a mushikashika vehicle from the Central Business District to Marlborough on Boxing Day,” said Insp Chakanza.
“The complainant boarded a silver Honda Fit on December 26 at around 8.45am.
“Only the driver was in the vehicle and the complainant occupied the rear seat.
“Three more unidentified men boarded the vehicle and one of them occupied the front passenger seat while the other two sat with the complainant at the back.
“When they arrived at the intersection of Harare Drive and Sam Nujoma Street, the victim told the driver to stop as she had reached her destination.
“The driver did not stop, but turned left into Harare Drive and then into Marlborough Drive. He pulled off the road and parked in a bushy area. The man seated in the front passenger seat produced a pistol.
“The two accused at the rear seat then took turns to rape the complainant.
“The accused later dumped complainant along Harare Drive and sped off towards the CBD,” said Insp Chakanza.
Insp Chakanza urged people to avoid boarding mushikashikas since most of them are used in committing crimes that include robbery, rape and murder.
