A 12-YEAR-OLD speech and hearing impaired girl reportedly escaped a rape attempt when the alleged rapist’s manhood “failed to rise to the occasion.”
This was heard when Ishmael Vundla (33) from Tsholotsho appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Dambudzo Malunga on Thursday last week facing an attempted rape charge.
He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to 17 April for commencement of trial.
The court heard that on 10 February Vundla met the victim as she walked home along a footpath. He then grabbed her hand.
It is said after that he dragged her to the bush where he forced her to lie down and tried to rape her. However, his attempt was unsuccessful when his manhood failed to erect.
The court heard that while he appeared preoccupied and frustrated by his failed attempt, the girl seized the opportunity and fought him off.
It is alleged that she fled to her home and reported the incident to her parents.
The matter was reported to the police leading to Vundla’s arrest.
