A Harare schoolgirl challenged herself to write the Cambridge A-Level exams in just nine months and and came out with 12 points.
Hazel Chitsinde scored an A in Business, Economics (B) and C in Mathematics, and hopes to pursue an economics degree at renowned universities such as Harvard, Oxford or and Cambridge to reach self-actualisation.
Despite discouragement from her family and some of her teachers, she was keen to prove everyone wrong and challenge herself. She is now looking for a scholarship to pursue her dreams further.
“I always had that desire to challenge myself and I felt I would be wasting my time when I could actually sit for the exams in nine months.
“It was just a thought at first, but it later changed when I started facing a lot of discouragement from my family and some of my teachers who were saying I won’t be able to do it.
“After their discouragement I was keen to prove everyone wrong,” she said.
