THE African Girl Foundation in partnership with the National University of Science and Technology (Nust) will on Wednesday host its second annual Zimbabwean Girl Leadership Summit at the university in Bulawayo.
African Girl of Foundation previously known as Cradles of Influence Leadership Institute is a non-profit development organisation with the responsibility of contributing towards the empowerment of the African girl child.
The co-founder of African Girl Foundation Mr Mmillili Tapela said: “Our theme for this year is, ‘Dream Big, Change Your World’, we have invited leaders from schools and tertiary institutions and we are looking up to see members of the Student Representative Councils (SRC), prefects and headgirls.”
He said the summit is not only for Bulawayo leaders but the whole region. Mr Tapela said the summit will pave way for future women leaders and celebrates excellence in women leadership.
“This historic extravaganza will see more than 2 000 girl leaders from various academic institutions and communities converging on Nust. The young female leaders will experience thought-provoking presentations, exciting and exhilarating girl leadership training, grooming and motivation especially prepared and facilitated by professionals from academia, corporate, public sector and civic society,” he said.
He said the summit is in line with global commitment that seeks to empower the girl child and young women by giving them opportunities they deserve in order for them to reach their full potential. Some of the delegates expected to attend include Lupane State University Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr Nomathemba Ndiweni and patron of Zimbabwe Girl Leadership Summit Dr Eve Gahadzikwa.
