The women’s competition will this year have four countries, which will all play one another on a round-robin format, before heading to the semi-finals.
The team that finishes on top will take on the third-placed side, while the second-placed nation will play the country that finishes fourth in the pool.
Hosts Zambia, South Africa, Namibia and champions Zimbabwe will be battling for honours at the Lusak Games.
Giwa said he is impressed by the talent he has in his squad.
“We already started our preparations and morale is at its best in the camp. All the players who have been called into the team are fit and raring to go. We released players today (yesterday) to allow them play league matches for their respective clubs.
“Obviously it won’t be easy for us but we need to go and fight. It’s a difficult tournament every year but the girls always work hard to win. We will resume training tomorrow (today) and we expect everyone to report for training,” Giwa said.
Zimbabwe will be represented in swimming, athletics, athletics for the visually impaired and women’s football team at the Games.
