coach of Premiership giants CAPS United in a career that started brightly but whose glow has somehow faded.
Ntini, the self-styled Lion of Zimbabwe coaching, has settled at Triangle FC – an ambitious Zifa Eastern Region Division One side – and wants to work his way back to the top.

“There comes a time, in any coach’s career, when you have to look at yourself in the mirror and see where you are getting it right and where you are getting it wrong,” said Ntini.
“I reached that stage this year and I realised that if I stay in Harare, working in the same environment that I have been all these years, I might not develop my career the way I want.
“I took the hard decision of going back to Division One and I think Chiredzi provides a good environment for me to quietly work on my career and if I can make a good impression here, I think I can move forward again.

“I am excited by the challenge of making a name for myself by doing well for Triangle and I have been impressed with the commitment of the sponsor and the community to bring Premiership football to this part of the country.

“When you see the passion that people here have of football, then you understand why it is necessary that we work hard and have a Premiership franchise so that the big teams and the big names can also come here.”
Chiredzi hosted a BancABC Sup8r Cup tie between Dynamos and Hwange this year which attracted a full-house at Gibo Stadium.

Ntini said he has settled at Triangle and the mission now was to build a team that should compete favourably with the rest in the division.
“I have brought a number of players who are experienced and who can make a difference and we believe they will be key in taking us forward,” said Ntini. I have brought Tineyi Meda, who used to play for CAPS United, Golden Munandi, who has Premiership experience, and goalkeeper Edmund Chimhini.

“The striker we are banking on to really make a difference for us is Nhamo Lameck, who came from Mutare. The team is solid and we are ready to compete and if we play well and consistently, we can do something good for the community.”

Ntini’s team will be away to Mwenezana on Sunday and the coach was bullish about their chances.
“We are taking one game at a time but we are confident and it’s good, for a change, to work in a quiet and small place without the usual distractions from the big city,” said Ntini.
