The Green Light International Trust (GLIT), known for its efforts in empowering people with disabilities, will host a drug and substance abuse awareness campaign in Harare tomorrow.

The campaign will run under the theme, “Recreation Economic Growth and Empowerment Against Drug and Substance Abuse”.

In an interview with The Sunday Mail, GLIT managing director and founder, Mr Tawanda Makwiramiti, said the campaign was aimed at creating a drug-free community.

“Drug and substance abuse is a growing concern, affecting not only the youth but also vulnerable members of the society.

“We have seen individuals seeking rehabilitation, but we have realised that rehabilitation alone is insufficient.

“What we need is to come up with measures that will work from the roots to eliminate the drug and substance abuse, starting from the control of medicine, immigration, policing and authorities to create a community free from drug and substance abuse”, he said.
