It was all glitz and glamour at the Big Chill held over the weekend at the Old Hararians where a touch of class and style was the order of the night. Everything from start to finish was top notch including a record crowd since the first edition was held at the same venue.
Music lovers came dressed for the Big Chill, a lifestyle entertainment party which began as a Star FM’s Breakfast Club initiative, but has since grown to become a must attend affair.
The beauty of the gig was that people had time to chat and share with some of Harare’s top names and Star FM presenters.
Like at every other party, it was the DJs who worked magic throughout the night. The combination of Ash Styles and Nivek is proving to be a formidable one. Often called Game Recognise Game by listeners, Ash and Nivek were on point rocking the crowd with their mash up of songs from dancehall, hip-hop to R&B.
Suffice to say, the duo is getting better with each gig. Other DJs on rotation who wowed the crowd were Chuckie, Raxx the DJ and Hotspitter.
Then there was the veteran Otis “The Flow” Fraser and boy oh boy you needed to be there to see how he rocks. The Flow never misses a single beat when it comes to throwing down some serious party songs much to the delight of the crowd. Those who watched him at the Channel O Party Zone during the Big Brother Africa, The Flow had the housemates eating out of his palms and hoisted the Zimbabwean flag high.
Nowadays deejaying is becoming competitive ever since The Flow rejoined Star FM. His exceptional talent on the turntables sort of pushes the bar high.
Spicing up the entertainment line-up were stand-out live performances by man-of-the moment Guspy Warrior and Reneilo.
Guspy put up a show-stopping act when he churned out the club banger “Seunononga”. The dreadlocked chanter had the crowd on its feet with some daring female fans twerking on stage.
Fungai “Kush” Zvirawa of Khaya Defero, the events company which puts together the Big Chill, confirmed last weekend’s show was the biggest in terms of attendance.
Close to 5 000 fans took part.
