Global leaders head to Davos

Davos will welcome global leaders for the World Economic Forum 2024 next week with the event focused on rebuilding trust.

Discussions will span global security, job creation, climate initiatives, and AI development, with leaders striving for impactful, united resolutions.

This year’s theme, “Rebuilding Trust,” acknowledges the need to restore faith amidst multifaceted global challenges, including geopolitical conflicts, climate change, and advancements in technologies like artificial intelligence (AI).

The emphasis is on moving beyond recognising problems to finding solutions, with a focus on transparency, consistency, and accountability.

Over 100 governments, major international organisations, and the Forum’s 1 000 partner companies are expected, alongside civil society leaders, experts, youth activists, social entrepreneurs, and the media.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, French President Emmanuel Macron and key Middle East leaders are slated to attend  the Forum, putting talks to end wars in Gaza and Ukraine at the top of the agenda for the global elite.

The 54th annual WEF gathering in the Swiss ski resort of Davos will occur against its most complicated geopolitical backdrop to date, its president Borge Brende said on Tuesday.

A challenging global economic picture, with shifting interest rate policies and rising debt, will also confront the central bankers, financiers and business leaders attending.

Brende said much of this year’s focus would be high level diplomatic talks on wars in the Middle East, Ukraine and Africa. – Reuters— Euronews.
