Glorious purpose

Dr Obert Moses Mpofu

WITHOUT purpose then nothing can ever really be done. It is purpose that drives one forward. Such a purpose should neither be feeble nor should it be frivolous. It should be anchored on tangible outcomes.

It must be quantifiable and with regards to political parties, such a purpose should be one capable of changing the lives of the people for the better. It is of no use for a political party to serve the interests of foreigners at the expense of its people. The people are the most important element in this matrix.

Political parties exist to win elections, so that they can serve the people. That is their purpose, to serve. Zanu-PF has enjoyed years of service to the people and has at the same time endured the difficulties that come along with the pursuit of self-determination.

One of the ways that Zanu-PF has served its people is by taking back the land that had been robbed from our ancestors and giving it back to the majority.

This was the major crux of why arms were taken, this was the purpose of driving out the oppressive colonial regime. Having achieved this, the work is still incomplete. I dare suggest that, the work is never truly complete. We are all still here for a purpose.

The purpose of Zanu-PF since time immemorial is to take Zimbabwe into the promised land and we have been doing quite a good job of it. This is the assignment that dictates our very existence. It is such a glorious purpose. His Excellency, our President and First Secretary Cde Dr ED Mnangagwa understands this, perhaps more than anyone else.

There has been so much noise as to the state of affairs in our beloved country. Much of this noise has come from what I’d call outsiders (for lack of a better word to describe those bent on ensuring that we as a country do not succeed). In all the noise, has anyone stopped for a moment and asked the question – “will the liberators of this country subject it to torment?”. Common sense suggests that this is highly noise that has been made by the less informed is a simple display of ignorance. of the past few months since the harmonised elections have shown that, Zanu-PF has been right all along.

My party’s victory in the harmonised elections and the subsequent by-elections has vindicated us from all the misinformed noises that were being made by those who are ideologically inferior.

Since the days of colonialism, Zanu-PF has never lost sight of what’s important. We have had our eyes firmly locked in on the target and we have hardly ever missed. The people know this and this is why time and again they show faith in Zanu-PF by voting it into office.

As a matter of fact, Zanu-PF has transcended from being a mere political party, it is now a way of life. Zimbabweans have come to live life the Zanu-PF way. This is because they have the belief and buy-in in what the mass party stands for. It is only those with a conviction of what the future should hold that have an understanding of Zanu-PF’s purpose and I dare say, Zanu-PF’s purpose is a glorious one.Zanu-PF’s purpose then, was to free Zimbabwe from colonialism. Zanu-PF’s purpose now is to take Zimbabwe to economic prosperity through the attainment of Vision 2030.

Already, our beloved country is amongst the top-five fastest growing economies in the region. This has been happening amidst numerous difficulties such as sanctions as well as hostility from those who have long opposed Zimbabwe’s self-determination.
We are a young democracy, one that is budding and full of promise. We have barely scratched the surface as a young democracy.

However, events of the past two decades have shown that Zimbabwe indeed punches above its weight. For those with a short memory, we should all note that Zimbabwe has been under the brunt of sanctions, longer than we have been independent from colonial rule. This means that, at the current rate, whatever gains we made within the first two decades of independence should have long been eroded. But that is not the case.

We have managed to chart a new path for our people and our country is bursting with a hive of economic activity we have not seen before. We have truly defied all odds.Zimbabwe is strategic and offers so much promise that those who had imposed sanctions on us are tactically withdrawing them now, in a bid to avoid shame. We have indeed exceeded all expectations. Now, everyone wants to learn how we have done it.

Zimbabwe is now a marvel, a miracle, some would say. Our enemies expected us to crumble and shrivel away, but here we stand. A proud nation standing tall amongst the community of other nations.

The sanctions that were imposed on us were designed to finish us off and the continued efforts from our detractors meant to discredit us and have us suffer, have all but failed. We have been pursuing our agenda and moving our country forward so much that those who engineered have all but started cowering away.

Zimbabwe will not and shall not fail. The people’s party, Zanu-PF will see to it. There will not be any abandonment of the sheer determination and the quest to get to the promised land.
As economic prosperity that has been deliberately engineered by the Zanu-PF led Government, under the astute leadership of

His Excellency, President Cde Dr ED Mnangagwa beckons on the horizon, the glorious purpose of this mass line party is fully revealed. Economic prosperity beckons comrades.
