LONDON. – Carl Froch says Anthony Joshua’s career is OVER after he agreed to fight YouTuber Jake Paul.
The 36-year-old Olympic gold winner and two-time heavyweight king has signed to fight the 28-year-old social media star on December 19 in Miami.
The professional eight-rounder is valued at around £200million and will be broadcast around the world by Netflix.
But AJ – who never boxed Deontay Wilder, never clinched undisputed glory and is yet to dance with Tyson Fury – is getting hammered for his latest big-money move.
Saudi boxing boss Turki Al-Sheikh claimed on Saturday night that the Watford legend would enjoy a February tune-up clash in the sesert before securing the overdue Gypsy King showdown in September.
But, before any of that, he will face the professional prankster who lost the only semi-serious fight of his 13-bout career – to Love Island hunk Tommy Fury.
And the 48-year-old Cobra – a former super-middleweight world champ and boxing hall-of-famer – says Joshua’s controversial decision is the end of his status as a genuine boxer.
The Nottingham icon told SunSport’s Split Decision show: “If he has agreed to take the fight then it is because his career is finished.
“I said that over a year ago when he got flattened by Daniel Dubois. I said he was finished then and all he could do was try to make even more money.” – The Sun
