AFTER clinching a maiden Netball Super League title in 2016, Glow Petroleum intend to take their game to the next level. And the cash rich outfit’s owner Aaron Chinhara reckons a foreign coach is just want they need as they aim to dominate the local league “for a very long, long time.”“It feels good to be champions, the queens of the game in Zimbabwe. We invested in it and are reaping what we sowed,” said Chinhara.
“It is obvious that winning the Super League title comes with some added pressure, the other teams know what we are capable of and will be out to beat us next season.
“We need to take our game to the next level. We are already planning for next season and I can tell you that we want a top South African coach.”
Glow’s triumph brought to an end Correctional Queens three season stranglehold on the title. But a close analysis shows that as the team that was formerly known as Nehanda were winning titles on the bounce Glow Petroleum were making some steady progress.
The Redcliff based side won the 2014 National Pre-Season competition, finished second last season and supplied the bulk of players to the national team.
“This was our fourth season in the league and it was about time we won it. Our aim now is to dominate the league,” said Chinhara.
Off the court Glow Petroleum has also scored some victories with some of its players, whose university fees are paid for by the club, in their final year of study.
“We are paying university fees for five of our players, it is also important for us to educate the girl child. We want them to be more than just netball players.
“I hope that soon we will be exporting some of our players to countries like Australia and New Zealand where netball is big,” said Chinhara.
