GMB donates

The Grain Marketing Board has donated groceries worth hundreds of dollars to orphans at Young Africa Youth Centre in Chitungwiza as part of the company’s social responsibility programme. GMB general manager Mr Albert Mandizha handed over the groceries to the centre which included food items, washing powder and other cleaning detergents. “It’s everyone’s responsibility to assist those in need. We have to take care of the underprivileged.”

Even though GMB was operating under difficult circumstances, Mr Mandizha said, his organisation had found it important to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children.

“It is our mandate as a society to help those that are in need and we believe that any positive upbringing of the youth will contribute to the development of our country as the youth are leaders of tomorrow,” he said. “As an organisation we are determined to ensure that the future of these youth can be better by what we do for them today and the little we give them will make a difference.”

The Young Africa Youth Centre runs self-help projects to sustain its operations. “As an organisation we are impressed by such efforts and we urge this centre to continue imparting such skills to the youth at this centre,” Mr Mandizha said.
