YOUTHFUL Go Boyz were yesterday crowned champions of the annual Fustal Five-A-Aside Heroes Day tournament after they dismissed fellow seasoned campaigners Amabhubesi 2-0 in the final match.

Skipper Daniel Matambudzo and Thabani Mlilo were on target for Go Boyz who went home with a floating trophy and medals.
Ecstatic Go Boyz gaffer Michael Gumede, could not hide his joy after their triumph.

“It’s so pleasing, the boys have done well. It’s unfortunate I don’t check on scores when we are playing but we won,” said Gumede.

“It’s not the first time we have done well this year. Remember we won the Independence Challenge Cup. We are slowly getting it right,” added Gumede.

On their way to the final, Go Boyz got the better of Sobukhazi on a 2-0 scoreline while Amabhubesi were 2-1 victors over TNS FC.

The contest also featured Cowdray Park FC, Mictech and South Wonder.

Fox FC and Nedbank did not show up. Fustal Five-A-Aside National chairperson Philani Banda graced the contest and said he was happy with the level of competition.

“We are very happy with the level of competition that was shown the whole day. However, it was unfortunate that two teams did not show up. We expect to have an improved competition come next year.

It’s well done to the winners, we are grateful for the true spirit of sportsmanship that was exhibited,” said Banda.
