They can be financial; ever-struggling to clear a debt and meeting bill deadlines, staying on the run from creditors, landlords and all whom you owe?
That is typical of a financial warfare.
The warfare however, can be social, marital, academic, health-oriented and also spiritual.
This article is meant to equip you with the knowledge and wisdom, on how to deal with a storm or a menacing challenge.
Take heart, the Word of God has something to say to you. Read on.
In the Bible we read an interesting story of the nation of Israel under King Jehoshaphat.
The nation was surrounded by enemies, Moabites and Ammonites (2 Chronicles 20:4-17).
It was a difficult situation.
What then would Jehoshaphat do?
Would he quickly run away from the enemy and leave his inheritance (which could be your job, business, marriage or goal you are after), or rather would he be diplomatic, negotiate and surrender to the enemy like other kings often did?
I have a question for you this day; “What do you do when warfare surrounds you?”
Don’t you surrender, or bow to the challenge as other people do when faced with powerful enemies?
When a disease attacks your body night and day; when that business gets caged; marriage and relationships constrained?
What do you do?
Read on and hear how King Jehoshaphat got his answer out of warfare.
“And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the Lord: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord. And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord, before the new court,And said, O Lord God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?
“Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever? . . . And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt . . . how they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit . . . or we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.”
Such was the case with King Jehoshaphat. He did not know what to do.
My first secret to you, when you are in warfare and you do not know what to do, run to God!
Don’t run or rush to people.
People can disappoint you; yes they can sympathise with you sometimes, but not for long and oftentimes unable to help your situation.
Have a heart and an attitude of running to the Lord.
When you are almost getting fired from your job, business about to be shut down, children almost sent away from school, having nowhere and no one to run to; HOLD ON, get before the Lord in prayer like King Jehoshaphat.
At one time Elisha was surrounded by an entire Syrian army that had come to capture him. (2 Kings 6:15-16).
His servant saw the enemy first and did not know what to do, but rather grew fearful “Alas my master how shall we do?”
The man of God changed the young man’s focus by declaring, “Fear not, for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.”
Then he prayed for him to be able to see the horses and chariots of fire, the heavenly army of God protecting them.
Reader I have a good Word for you.
They that are on your side are more than they that are against you.
Fear not!
There is hope and an answer for your situation, God on your side who can be against you?
Your situation will turn-around, look on God.
After they ran to God and poured their situation to Him in prayer how then did God have to fight for them?
This is the problem with many people.
After praying and telling God their situation, they worry and fret over how he is going to work out the situation.
This is where my second key to you comes in, trust in God.
It’s not enough to pray over a situation and tell it to God — you need to trust Him.
This is the reason why many have prayed and still did not find the answer but rather went on to seek other contrary ways of solving their problems.
There is one place where a situation is permanently solved and that one place is in God.
All else is temporary.
Hate, revenge, anger, strife, charms and all other means are temporary and often explosive, for they tend to backfire.
Run, to God. Trust in God.
Hear how God responded to Jehoshaphat after his prayer.
“And all Judah stood before the Lord, with their little ones, their wives, and their children . . . Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”
Friend hear me well today, the battle is not yours but the Lord’s.
Trust Him.
He has a way out for you.
Believe Him. Fear not and you will see the salvation of the Lord.
In this time of the beginning of a New Year 2013, I challenge you to fix your eyes unto the Most High God.
Stand on the Word of God and you will live to rejoice and testify the goodness of the Lord!
Apart from running to God and trusting in God, another thing you need to take note, when surrounded by warfare is that you battle not against flesh and blood that is human beings but rather forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12).
It’s not people you are fighting, it’s the devil.
People are just avenues and vessels used.
The real adversary and enemy you have is Satan.
From the beginning he has and still is fighting against humanity.
At your workplace, in your family, in your community, warfare may come through people BUT do not hate or fight people!
Stand on the Word of God and fight using the Word of God.
Your enemy the devil fears and runs at the mention of the Word of God and at the name of Jesus. Be wise. Fight with the right weapons and fight the right enemy — the devil.
I pray a blessed, prosperous and blessed New Year over your life, family, workplace and organisation and all that concerns you this 2013.
God give you victory over every situation and circumstance you are facing right now in Jesus name.
God bless you.
