God gives significance to the insignificant

MATTHEW 2:6
And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people, Israel.
Bethlehem Ephratah was the least place among thousands of places.
It was an obscure place. It was little known among places that were significant or famous in Israel. It was the least place.
But Jesus, the Prince of Peace was born in it. It only became known by the birth of Jesus, but before that, it was unknown.
Michah called it the least among thousands.
But Matthew called it “thou art not the least”.
What made it not the least was the birth of Jesus Christ in it. It was chosen ahead of Jerusalem and other famous places. The birth of Christ changed its status.
God does not choose big things.
He chooses small things to make them big. God remembers the forgotten. He raises the despised.
When Jesus was born, He was despised by men.
He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief. He was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Yet He was God in flesh. David was small and despised, but he killed Goliath. God does not call the qualified. He qualifies the called.
David’s brothers were suitable to be anointed kings, but God rejected them and settled for David, a ruddy fellow.
Saul was head and shoulders above everyone, and the most suitable candidate to kill Goliath, but God chose David, a stripling to do it.
A sling was little known, but it rose to fame when it brought Goliath down. Until that day, no one ever thought that a sling could be that deadly.
It was not the sling that was powerful, it was the power God that got into it.
Zechariah 4:10 says: “For who hath despised the day of small things”.
Do not despise small things. They are big in the hand of God. A stick in the hand of Moses was a potent weapon that liberated a whole people from bondage and committed a genocide in Egypt.
Let no man despise you. You are not the least of the people. Out of you, God can bring a Governor from you, God can bring deliverance to your family.
God can cause great kings to come out you. Out of the dead body of Abraham came princes and kings.
Do not let your littleness hinder your vision of your greatness. Look out for greatness out of your smallness.
Bethlehem got its significance from being the birthplace of Christ. If you receive Christ in your heart, your greatness is on the way. Out of you will come many blessings. Out of you will come things you could only dream of before.
You are not the least among others. You shall be great. Only let your heart be the birthplace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
You may not be significant in your own eyes or the eyes of others. But God can bypass great names and settle for you to do extra ordinary things with you, and ordinary person.
God likes to raise someone from the ashes and ash heap.
David chose Mephibosheth, a man who was lame on both feet, from Lodebar, to make him eat at the king’s table.
Mephibosheth called himself a dead dog, but David saw him as royalty, being the son of his late friend, Jonathan. The condition of his feet did not matter to David. What mattered was that he was the son of Jonathan.
Stop seeing yourself as a dead dog. Before God, thou art not the least!
Paul called himself a chief sinner, but God chose him to show him mercy as an example of what He would do to those that would thereafter believe on Him.
When you think you are unable, that is when He enables you. When you think you are impure, that is when He purifies you.
Do not give up on your dreams because of circumstances. Keep on believing and testifying that one day something great will come out of you.
Thou art not the least. Out of you great things will come.
