AVOCA Business Centre in Insiza, Matabeleland South is the venue for today’s official sponsorship launch of the 13-team Godlwayo South Soccer League.

The teams that make up the GSSL are Singwambizi, Mbembesi, Bambanani, Mapeume, Vokola, Mbondweni, Mabuze, Maduna, Avoca, Dekezi, Hlatshwayo, Sidzibe and Silalatshani. The total prize package stands at $2 000 with $300 in store for the winners of the league.

Kossam Mavuna Ndlovu, a spokesperson for the bankrollers of the league which started in 2015 said they were expecting 150 people to attend the launch. Invites have been sent out to Chief Vezi Maduna, Insiza South Member of Parliament Malachi Nkomo, Insiza Rural District Council chairman Daniel Mpofu as well as local councillors.

South Africa-based Ndlovu, Zibusiso Majankwe Ncube who is also domiciled in the neighbouring country together with Bulawayo businessman Bhekimpilo Maranda Sithole are the sponsors of the league with the trio calling themselves MMM.

“I would like to announce that MMM through the legal structures of GSSL, are the sponsors of GSSL 2017.Tripple M is composed of the three dedicated members who have interest in soccer and Godlwayo at heart,’’ Ndlovu said.

“We have seen it fit to come with this little donation to motivate our teams and assure you that the Godlwayo league is here to stay. We continuously and unconditionally share the same sentiments with GSSL, of seeing our league at a higher level one day. We therefore preach & instill ubuntu, discipline and tolerance among ourselves. Remember soccer is a unifier and it remains the most beautiful sport on the planet,’’ he said.
