A 13-YEAR-OLD boy from Lupinyu, just outside Victoria Falls, is living a life of pain and isolation as a massive goitre grows on his neck.
His family is pleading for help to raise US$250 for a critical operation in Zambia.
The teen, whose name is being withheld to protect his privacy, has stopped going to school due to both financial constraints and the physical and emotional toll of the swelling that’s making life unbearable.
“He’s in constant discomfort and is often mocked by other children,” said a family friend. “The goitre is not only painful, it’s also affecting his breathing and confidence.”
The family, struggling to put food on the table, cannot afford the cost of the surgery.
Local philanthropist Obert Dube has taken up the cause and is appealing to the public to chip in and help the young boy reclaim his future.
