Gokwe man jailed for killing father over sorcery allegations

A Gokwe man who fatally assaulted his father last year as he accused him of being a wizard has been jailed for 20 years.

Tinevimbo Nyika of Kufazvinei Village in Gokwe North appeared before the High Court in Gokwe facing murder charges.

Nyika was 23 years old at the time he murdered his father, Aison Nyika, who was 69 years old.

The court heard that on November 18, 2023, Tinevimbo confronted his father, accusing him of practicing wizardry.

Tinevimbo accused his father of bewitching one of his brothers. He assaulted him with a metal rod all over his body and he

died.
