Gokwe man kills father over witchcraft

A 23-year-old man from Gokwe has been arrested after he killed his father by stabbing and ripping off his intestines as he accused him of witchcraft.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko who confirmed the incident which occured at the weekend, said the suspect, Tinevimbo Nyika (23) was now in police custody while the body of his father Mr Aison Nyika (69) was taken to Gokwe District hospital mortuary.

“It is alleged that on the fateful day, the two were at their homestead in Kufazvinei Village under Chief Chireya in Gokwe when Tinevimbo confronted his father, Mr Aison Nyika accusing him of witchcraft and causing havoc in the family. Mr Nyika picked a metal rod and truck Tinevimbo with it on the leg,” said Insp Mahoko.

He said Tinevimbo then disarmed his father and started assaulting him with the rod.

“He then used the rod to pierce the father into the stomach and drew out his intestines killing him on the spot,” said Insp Mahoko.
