SHREWD tactician Norman Mapeza has been presented with a golden opportunity to land his second piece of silverware as FC Platinum coach when his charges lock horns with Harare City in the Chibuku Super Cup final at Mandava Stadium on Sunday.Mapeza, who clobbered Taurai Mangwiro’s Caps United 6-0 in the ZNA Commanders’ Charities Shield final at the same venue, goes into battle with his side firm favourites to win the $500,000 trophy whose first prize is a $75,000 cheque.
According to the PSL, the match will kick off at 3PM.
To book their place in the final FC Platinum beat Bantu Rovers 3-0 in the first round, booted out Caps United 1-0 through an own goal by defender George Nyirenda. A Walter Musona strike in the semi-final against Black Rhinos was enough to propel the platinum miners into the final.
The Sunshine Boys were 3-0 victors over ZPC Kariba in the first round before goals from Osborne Mukuradare and Martin Vengesai were enough to knock out Chiredzi in the quarter-final. They met Highlanders in the semi-final and handed them a 3-0 hiding through goals by Francisco Zekumbawira, William Manondo and Vengesayi.
Losing finalists will walk home with $50,000.
