Golf star Cayeux to take longer break

Cayeux was the local leading golfer before he was involved in a horrific accident six months ago.
The accident happened near Mvuma along the Harare-Masvingo highway.
The golfer, who is recuperating in Johannesburg, South Africa, indicated that he might undergo a bone draft if there are no improvements on the injuries after this month.
“It has been six months and the right leg still has a clean break and not looking good.
“I have four weeks to show improvements otherwise bone graft.
“I pray I do not have a bone graft operation,” Cayeux wrote on his Facebook wall.
Meanwhile, the Midlands Strokeplay tees off this morning at Zvishavane Golf Club with Claire Minter aiming to maintain her dominance in the women’s golfers’ championship division.
The golfer has won the first two high profile tournaments of the season after success in Mashonaland West and the Matabeleland Strokeplay tournaments.
Minter is likely to be pushed by Loice Chingono of Wingate, Aulia Alfazema and Batsirai Tilowakuti.
Brenda Leipe who finished, as runner-up at the last event where the champion on the local scene Minter won by 11 strokes will also be in contention.
The Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union said it was happy with the increase in the number of participants in this season’s events.
“We are looking forward to a big field as the last competition showed that the golfers are very committed this season and we look forward to a good game,” said ZLGU public relations office Helen van Rensburg said.
The A Division should be a battle between Shamiso Makwara and Louise Hopkins.
Laura Buckley will be fighting not to go for another playoff with Rodnah Mutasa in the B division.
Chapman, Royal, Borrowdale Brooke and Wingate Golf Clubs have been praised by the ZLGU for sponsoring junior girls identified by the union for development.
