Golf team announced

 

the players are seasoned with four of them having represented the country at last month’s All-Africa Challenge Trophy in South Africa.

“The Gilbertson and Page Challenge Trophy team will be made up of eight players and the tournament will be matchplay in the singles and foursomes matchplay format. The tournament will be played in Nairobi, Kenya, from the 21st to the 27th June 2013,” Dube said.

She was also pleased that their junior policy was working in the union’s favour as several young golfers have made it into the team.

“It is particularly pleasing to note that Yolanda Mubaiwa, Batsirai Tilowakuti and Shamiso Makwara are products of the ZLGU Junior Golf programme and have progressed to this level of selection,” Dube said.

The team was chosen on the order of merit after last week’s Manicaland Strokeplay event that was won by Yollanda Mubaiwa.

Zimbabwe came second behind Kenya in the last event that was played in Zambia.
