Women bowlers line up intense preparatory programme

stems from the fact that they came back home with a number of medals after their wonderful performance in the greens last year.

“We have quite a busy schedule before the Africa States and therefore I am confident that we are going to do well. We are yet to start training but playing many games is helping us because we will improve on our skills each time.  Playing many games before this year’s big competition is the best thing we can do. We have to do a lot of hard work but I am confident that we will bring good results. We are going to have the Fours competition and then the inter-provincials and that is what we need in order for us to perform well like we did last year,” said Craven.

Meanwhile, the Borrowdale “B” team took advantage of their home greens and ensured they won the Trips bowls competition that was sponsored by Borrowdale Country Club on Sunday.

Highlands team, which comprised of Tom Craven, Dereck Robinson and Manuel Silva, were the runners-up while Alexandra “B” team took the third place.

Alexandra “B” emerged as winners in the women’s section while Highlands Sports Club, who had the country’s skip Craven, were the runners-up ahead of third-placed Alexandra.

The bowlers are now expected to take part in the Bob Mitchell and Ethal Thomas Fours tournaments.
