THE Zimbabwe Special Olympics golf team returned home with five medals from the annual South Africa Special Olympics Professional Invitational Golf tournament at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club. The event, held on Monday, saw five of the eight participants returning home with medals.
The eight-member team was selected at a national event held at Chapman on September 5.
Munyaradzi Musariri won a gold medal in the 18-hole category.
Kudzanai Gomo and Gamuchirai Matinyarare won silver medals in the 18-hole category.
Michael Mudyanadzo and John Donkin walked away with bronze medals in the nine-hole category.
Viola Musariri, who was part of the delegation, said they managed to fly the Zimbabwe flag high at the event.
“We have improved a lot this year, last year we went to the event with four boys and we managed to bring home two gold medals and this year we did much better after we doubled the number,” Musariri said.
